WHO IS MRS CURRIE?

The Prince of Wales Inn is the oldest inhabited rammed earth building in Australia, built in the 1820's as an Inn and used as a public house until convict James McGowan added the Georgian home around the 1850's.

Utilised as a guest house until the turn of the 20th Century, it then became the residence for the Cooley family, being the birthplace of Mrs Alma Currie (nee Cooley) who resided in the home for some 80 years.

A Major restoration took place in the early 1990's and Mrs Currie's House was reborn as a 4 star traditionally hosted Bed & Breakfast.

ABOUT RICHMOND

One of the truly historic villages in Tasmania, Richmond is renowned for being home to Australia's oldest convict built bridge, Catholic Church and Gaol.

The village is an ideal base for day trips to Port Arthur, Hobart, Highland Lakes and East Coast just to name a few.
